(S32168) 06Cr18Ni11Ti Austenitic stainless steel exhibits good corrosion resistance in atmospheric conditions and is used in industries such as petrochemicals, electricity, bridges, and automotive. However, the "rustproof" nature of stainless steel is not absolute; under specific service environments, corrosion can occur. Factors such as medium concentration, pH value, and temperature can significantly affect the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. For instance, prolonged use within the sensitization temperature range of 450~850℃ can lead to intergranular corrosion. The mechanism involves C combining with Cr at the grain boundaries to form Cr23C6 and precipitate, reducing the Cr content at the grain boundaries, known as "poor chromium." Chromium is the key element in inhibiting intergranular corrosion; when the Cr content at the grain boundaries falls below 12%, the likelihood of intergranular corrosion increases.

Austenitic stainless steel is equivalent to China's 0Cr18Ni10Ti. U.S. grades include: 321, S32100, TP321. The Ti in 321 Stainless Steel serves as a stabilizing element but is also a high-temperature alloy, outperforming 316L in high-temperature applications.
