I. Overview of Application
This instrument determines the degree of cross-linking in cross-linked polyethylene products by measuring the gel content. The sample is heated in a selected solvent, extracted for a specified duration, and the mass before and after extraction is weighed. The cross-linking degree of the sample is calculated as the percentage of the mass of the remaining sample after extraction relative to the mass of the sample before extraction (i.e., the gel content).
