The TVSTransient Voltage Suppressor is a diode-style protective device with fast response times and high surge absorption capabilities. When the TVS receives a reverse transient overvoltage pulse at both ends, it can quickly convert high impedance to low impedance, absorbing large instantaneous currents and clamping the voltage to a predetermined level, thereby effectively protecting circuit components from damage. Hence, TVS transient suppression diodes are widely used in surge and electrostatic discharge protection circuits. Below, we explain how to select the correct TVS tube. TVS transient suppression diodes can be divided into unipolar and bipolar TVS tubes based on polarity. These TVS transient suppression diodes can be used in various circuit scenarios to protect circuit components. Here are some selection methods for reference: First, determine the circuit's large DC or continuous working voltage, rated standard voltage, and tolerance.

TVS's rated reverse breakdown voltage VRWM should be greater than or equal to the maximum working voltage of the protected circuit. If the selected VRWM is too low, the device may enter into avalanche or be affected by excessive reverse leakage current, thereby impacting the normal operation of the circuit; Aeronautical ground power, 36V aeronautical power supply, 400HZ frequency conversion power supply, 115/200V power supply, 27V DC power supply, 400HZ power supply, aeronautical power supply

The clamping voltage VC of TVS should be less than the breakdown voltage of the protected circuit.

During the specified pulse duration, the TVS's peak pulse power dissipation (PM) must be greater than the peak pulse power that may appear within the protected circuit. Once the clamping voltage is determined, its peak pulse current should be greater than the transient surge current.

For the protection of data interface circuits, it is essential to select appropriate TVS devices with the right capacitor C.

Select the polarity and packaging structure of TVS diodes based on their application. For AC circuits, bipolar TVS diodes are more suitable, while TVS arrays are more advantageous for multi-line protection. In the use of aviation power supplies, surge protection circuits and static protection circuits are indispensable. When designing protection circuits, it is common to use both voltage-dependent resistors (MOV) and TVS transient suppression diodes together to provide multiple layers of protection.

TVS transient suppression diodes were utilized at both input and output stages. The use of TVS at the output is to ensure that the components at the output stage of the switching power supply are not damaged due to static electricity or surge voltages generated by the power consumption end.
