Airports or ships must provide a 400Hz frequency converter power supply, known as aviation ground power, during ground maintenance of aircraft. The current direct power supply method is inadequate to meet the relevant technical requirements.
The Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) boasts remarkable advantages in addressing voltage fluctuations and enhancing power quality. This article delves into the key technologies of DVR application in medium-frequency power systems, exploring new approaches to improve the power quality of airport linear charging systems. Compared to the power grid with alternating current, medium-frequency power systems have higher voltage frequencies, greater internal impedance of the power source, and greater voltage fluctuations due to load changes, making the research on medium-frequency DVRs particularly unique. Based on the analysis of existing aircraft power supply solutions, this article proposes the use of DVRs to ensure the quality of ground power supply for aircraft. High-reliability and high-performance intermediate-frequency power supplies have been widely used in various fields such as aerospace, vehicles, and ships. Series of power supplies ranging from 50Hz (60Hz) to 400Hz (500Hz) and from 400Hz (500Hz) to 50Hz (60Hz), as well as from 28VDC to variable 400Hz (500Hz) AC and from 270VDC to variable 400Hz (500Hz) AC, are available overseas. However, to date, no such products have been seen using soft-switching technology. We have undertaken the task of providing 50/400Hz intermediate-frequency power supplies for a major engineering project, which require high reliability and good performance, as well as the ability to withstand harsh operating environments. Through development, prototype units have been delivered and all environmental tests have been conducted. This article presents the principle of construction for the 400Hz soft-switching intermediate-frequency power supply, including the robust resonant DC link and zero-voltage switching inverter. The 400Hz intermediate-frequency power supply's main power transistors use MOSFETs and zero-voltage switching schemes, with a switching frequency of 65kHz. The power supply consists of a robust resonant DC five-section and a single-phase inverter.
