Why Variable Frequency Drives Cannot Be Used as Variable Frequency Power Supplies

Variable frequency drives and variable frequency power supplies are fundamentally different. Due to the lack of uniform grid standards across countries, exporters of electrical appliances must simulate various grid conditions to provide appropriate voltage conversions. They offer engineers pure and stable power output with low harmonic distortion, high frequency stability, and voltage regulation for applications such as design and development, production line testing, and product quality inspections, including lifespan, over-voltage/under-voltage simulation tests. However, when using variable frequency drives for adjustments in the lab, it introduces significant difficulties, such as increased vibration, electromagnetic noise, higher temperature rise, and malfunctioning test instruments.
