What is a Simple DC Stabilized Power Supply Voltage Regulator Circuit
Zener diodes in reverse breakdown state exhibit the characteristic of maintaining a relatively constant voltage across their terminals despite significant current variations. Leveraging this property of zener diodes, a simple DC voltage regulation circuit can be formed. As illustrated in Figure 5-84, the zener diode VD is connected in parallel with the load resistor RL, with the voltage across VD serving as the output voltage U0. R1 acts as a current-limiting resistor. The zener diode operates in the reverse breakdown state, with its breakdown voltage being the stable voltage U2. At the UZ point, the voltage remains largely constant even when the current varies over a wide range. The primary feature of this simple voltage regulation circuit is its simplicity, although the output voltage of the DC voltage regulator is not adjustable, and the output current is limited by the zener diode, making it suitable only for applications requiring low output current. What is a Series Type DC Stabilized Power Supply Voltage Regulator Circuit?
The series voltage regulator circuit is shown in Figure 5-88. The transistor VT serves as the automatic adjustment element. Since the adjustment element is connected in series with the load circuit, it is termed a series voltage regulator circuit. VD is the voltage regulator diode, providing a stable base voltage for the adjustment transistor VT. R1 is the current-limiting resistor for the voltage regulator diode, and RL is the load resistor. Ui is the input voltage, U0 is the output voltage, and IC is the output current. The series voltage regulator circuit offers high voltage regulation accuracy, can output a large direct current (DC) voltage regulator current, and can also achieve continuous adjustable output DC voltage, thus gaining widespread application.
The DC voltage stabilizer circuit, utilizing integrated voltage regulators, boasts a simple circuit design, high stability, large output current, and comprehensive protection circuitry. Due to these features, it has been widely applied in practical circuits. 400HZ power supply
