Since the 1970s, the main circuit has commonly been composed of silicon rectifier diodes and thyristors. Filters are connected between the main circuit and the load to filter out the alternating current components in the pulsating DC power supply. The installation of a transformer depends on the specific situation. The transformer's role is to match the alternating input voltage with the DC output voltage and to provide electrical isolation between the AC grid and the rectifying circuit. The function of the rectifying circuit is to convert the lower AC voltage from the AC step-down circuit into a unidirectional pulsating DC power supply, which is the rectification process of AC. After passing through the rectifying circuit, the voltage is no longer AC voltage but a mixed voltage containing both DC and AC components.
