Common Faults of High-Power DC Power Supplies

High-power DC power supplies can be categorized into two types based on their technical specifications: one is the characteristic indicators, which reflect the inherent characteristics of the DC regulated power supply, such as input voltage, output voltage, output current, and output voltage adjustment range. The other type is a quality indicator, reflecting the pros and cons of the DC stable power supply, including stability, equivalent internal resistance (output resistance), ripple voltage, and temperature coefficient. What are the common faults of high-power DC power supplies?

1. In cases of voltage without current or current without voltage, inspect whether the power supply load is in good contact, whether the load is short-circuited, or if the load meets specifications.

2. When adjusting the voltage, it is not possible to adjust the no-load voltage. The reason is that even when the power source is unloaded, it consumes a little current, and you set the "current adjustment" to zero, even without a trace of current. Of course, when it does occur, the no-load voltage does not rise, so the "current adjustment" is usually not set to zero.

3. The high-power DC power supply features both voltage and current outputs. If the voltage is adjusted again, it cannot be adjusted further. This may be due to the operator's lack of clarity regarding the concepts of "constant voltage" and "constant current."

If the "Constant Current" indicator light is on, it indicates that the power supply is operating in a constant current state. At this point, the output voltage is not adjusted but determined by the load. Only by adjusting the "Current Adjustment" knob will the output current change, and the output voltage will also change accordingly.
