Yeast culture: Rich in polysaccharides, vitamins, minerals, digestive enzymes, growth factors, and complete amino acids, it boasts excellent palatability and can enhance immunity and promote growth, making it a new, all-in-one nutritional microecological preparation. As research continues to delve deeper, its development and application will become increasingly widespread.
Composition and Function
Microbial ecology preparations typically refer to mixtures composed of solid or liquid culture media fermented together with yeast, consisting of three parts: cellular matter (i.e., yeast), metabolic products, and denatured culture media. They are rich in nutrients, including polysaccharides, vitamins, minerals, digestive enzymes, growth factors, and complete amino acids, offering good palatability and enhancing immunity and growth promotion. They serve as a comprehensive source of feed additives. They contain over 100 metabolic substances of yeast cells, some of which are familiar, such as peptides, organic acids, oligosaccharides, amino acids, flavor enhancers, and aromatic substances. Additionally, there are many less-known substances, proven to be beneficial for animal and poultry growth, known as "unknown growth factors." The composition of various ingredients is generally related to factors such as the strain, initial culture medium form and composition, fermentation technology, and fermentation conditions.
Research and Application
From current usage domestically and internationally, the primary categories are divided into two: one category focuses on the primary function of yeast living cells; the other emphasizes the abundant yeast metabolic products. Some products do not emphasize the role of living cells. As a feed additive, the growth of the yeast itself may not be the primary biological function within the animal's intestines. Metabolic activity is more important than reproductive ability, so although a large number of yeast granules may lose reproductive capacity, they can still maintain metabolic activity. Yeast culture is widely used in animal feed, now added and utilized in dairy cows, beef cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, chickens, rabbits, and fish. The effectiveness of its use varies greatly due to factors such as the composition, type of livestock, and type of diet. Most literature reports indicate that ruminants show the best effects, and these findings are somewhat representative. Yeast culture has the effects of influencing rumen cellulolytic bacteria and lactic acid bacteria, altering rumen fermentation patterns, reducing rumen ammonia concentration, and increasing rumen microbial protein production and feed digestibility. Adding yeast culture to the diet of dairy cows can increase the average daily milk production by 0.48 to 1.74 kg and the average daily increase in milk by 1.13 kg, with more significant effects on early lactation than late lactation.
Future Outlook
The company has been engaged in research and application in animal feed for many years, achieving good effects in its application. For future research, we should strengthen in-depth studies on its mechanism of action. On the other hand, we should fully utilize the abundant yeast capital for research and development in its application to enhance its effectiveness. As the research deepens, its mechanism of action will become clearer, its application will improve, and its development and application will become more widespread.
