WuxiHydraulic SystemIntroducing Precautions for Operating Hydraulic Systems
Considering the diverse operating conditions of actuators, the system may require high flow rates at low pressures, or low flow rates at high pressures. Therefore, a pressure-limited variable pump is the ideal choice, as the flow rate of this type of pump varies with the system pressure. When the system pressure decreases, the flow rate is higher, enabling quick actuator strokes. Conversely, when the system pressure increases, the flow rate decreases accordingly, accommodating the actuator's operating strokes. This ensures that the actuator's requirements are met while power consumption remains reasonable.
2. Pressure and flow losses are inevitably present when hydraulic oil flows through various hydraulic valves, and this portion of energy loss constitutes a significant percentage of the total. Therefore, selecting the appropriate hydraulic pump and adjusting the pressure valve are important aspects for reducing power loss. The flow valve should be selected based on the flow regulation range within the system to ensure a stable flow that meets the operational requirements. The pressure of the pressure valve should be as low as possible while still allowing the hydraulic equipment to function normally.

3. When selecting a speed control loop for an actuator with speed regulation requirements, it's crucial to meet the speed regulation needs while minimizing power loss. Common speed control loops include throttling control loops, volumetric control loops, and volumetric throttling control loops. Throttling control loops have high power loss but good stability at low speeds. Volumetric control loops, on the other hand, have no overflow or throttling losses, offering high efficiency but poor stability at low speeds. To meet both requirements, a volumetric throttling control loop can be used, consisting of a differential pressure variable pump and a throttle valve, with the pressure difference across the throttle valve minimized to reduce pressure loss.
4. Select hydraulic oil wisely. As hydraulic oil flows through pipelines, it exhibits viscosity, and excessive viscosity generates higher internal friction, causing the oil to heat up and simultaneously increase resistance during flow. When viscosity is too low, leakage is more likely, which can reduce the system's volumetric efficiency. Therefore, it is generally recommended to choose oil with appropriate viscosity and good viscosity-temperature characteristics. Additionally, when oil flows through pipelines, there are both frictional pressure losses and local pressure losses along the pipeline. Hence, when designing the pipeline, it is advisable to minimize the length of the pipes and reduce the number of bends.
