After the shaping pines have been transplanted, the next step for Hongshengyuan is watering, commonly referred to as "watering to set the roots." Watering the newly transplanted shaping pines allows the roots to closely contact the soil, facilitating their absorption of moisture and nutrients. Generally, the roots of newly transplanted shaping pines do not completely fit the soil, creating significant gaps between them. Under such conditions, the Hongshengyuan shaping pines can quickly dry out and are easily blown over by the wind. Watering not only helps the roots and soil to bond more quickly but also ensures a moist soil environment, providing ample moisture for the shaping pines to grow. So, how should we water to set the roots?
Determine by Soil Moisture Level: If the soil is more moist and contains higher water content, less irrigation is needed for Hongsheng Yuanjing Song. If the soil is drier and has lower water content, more irrigation is required. We can judge the soil's dryness by squeezing it firmly. If the soil in your hand forms easily and moisture drips out, it indicates excessive moisture, so reduce the irrigation amount. If the soil does not form easily, is loose, and no moisture can be squeezed out, it means the soil is too dry, and more irrigation should be increased.
We select soil based on its properties: Our planting soil variety includes garden soil, humus soil, peat soil, and many other types of cultivation substrates. The soil ratios vary depending on the type of plant. Some plants require loose, well-ventilated soil, while others are more adaptable and have less stringent soil requirements.
For soils that are loose and have good permeability and water permeability, such as sandy or well-drained soils, it is appropriate to water Red Sheng Yuan Jing Song more extensively with root-set water, allowing the soil to absorb ample moisture since they are not prone to waterlogging. However, for soils that are less permeable, such as garden soil, Red Sheng Yuan Jing Song should be watered less frequently with root-set water to prevent soil waterlogging and avoid root rot in the shaped pine trees.
