The 2021 New Smart City Construction Development Summit was jointly hosted by the China Institute of Electronics and Information Industry Development and the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, among other organizations. From July 15th to July 16th, government officials, experts, and corporate representatives from across the country's smart city construction sectors gathered in Wuxi to discuss the new landscape of smart city construction.
In recent years, the construction of smart cities in our country has been flourishing, with many local governments accelerating the application of cutting-edge technologies and actively exploring new paths for the intelligent development of cities. Several participants at the meeting pointed out that the construction of smart cities in our country still faces issues such as a lack of unified understanding of its essence and insufficient long-term driving mechanisms. It is necessary for all regions to adhere to a problem-oriented approach and effectively address the practical problems arising from the digital transformation of cities. Special attention should be paid to the safety challenges of smart city construction.
The advancement of urban informatization and intelligence has led to an increase in potential safety risks, particularly in control centers and computer systems. Issues such as software vulnerabilities, operational errors, and even cyber-attacks can have a domino effect once they occur. Li Yizhong, former Minister of National Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and President of the China Industrial Economy Federation, pointed out that the construction of smart cities faces new changes and challenges in terms of security.各地区 should incorporate emergency systems and emergency industries into the development plans for smart cities.
He emphasized that governments across regions should prioritize public and production safety, improve urban emergency response systems, actively develop the emergency safety industry, and ensure the safety and property of the people, as well as social stability.
We must adopt a scientific perspective on internet management and build a proactive immune security system. Academician Shen Changxiang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering also emphasized that constructing smart cities necessitates ensuring the security of cyberspace. From data collection to information transmission, and to the backend processing, dynamic correlation and visualization must be achieved to avoid the occurrence of "post-hoc" situations.
Wuxi is one of the cities that started early in the construction of smart urbanization and has good experience in urban governance and service philosophy. Hu Yi, the Director of Wuxi Municipal Big Data Administration Bureau, revealed to People's Daily that to leverage the advantages of digitalization and maintain the city's vitality, Wuxi's "Urban Brain" will further strengthen its security foundation and accelerate the improvement of emergency management systems and mechanisms.
In response to potential security risks in the urban digitalization process, Zhang Liang, Vice President of Langxin Technology Group, suggests establishing a big data security protection platform. This platform would create a secure mode for sensitive data usage, ensuring data availability without visibility, non-usage without authorization, and providing a secure protection system for data circulation and transactions.
According to information, the 2021 New Smart City Construction Development Summit will be held concurrently with forums such as "Digitalization Makes Cities More Beautiful," "Digitization Creating New Urban Forms," and "Digital Intelligence Driving New Economy and New Life of Cities."
