Polyester yarn refers to yarns spun from polyester, a type of polymer fiber produced through spinning.

The fiber produced from ethylene glycol dibenzoate is commonly referred to as "PET" fiber, which is an abbreviation for its English name "polyethylene terephthalate." In China, it is colloquially known as涤纶.

Pure涤纶纱 is spun from polyester short fibers, which come in different categories. In terms of length, there are cotton-type fibers, around 37 millimeters long, medium-long fibers, 51 to 57 millimeters in length, and wool-type fibers, 75 to 105 millimeters in length.

Fibers are categorized by their fineness, with fine denier fibers around 1.5D, coarse denier fibers around 5D, and those in between at about 3D. Naturally, there are also finer ones like 1D, and ultra-fine fibers ranging from 0.1 to 0.5D.
The yarn is extremely fine, akin to a 50s or 60s count, spun from fine denier fibers. This method ensures easy even spinning, resulting in good yarn structure with minimal flyaways. If the fibers are longer, they enhance the yarn's cohesion and strength.

The yarn spun has a smooth texture, whereas coarse-count yarn feels rougher and has a better hair-like feel.
