Bleach Wash is a process to achieve a clean and vibrant appearance, as well as a soft texture, for garments. It involves rinsing the clothing after a normal wash with clear water, then heating it to 60°C. Depending on the depth of the bleaching color, an appropriate amount of bleaching agent is added to ensure a consistent color within 7-10 minutes. During the operation, the direction of adding the bleaching agent should match the rotation of the drum to prevent localized bleaching from the agent not diluting with water quickly enough. Before bleaching, the drum should be slightly filled with water to allow for dilution of the rinse water. After the garment has been bleached to match, sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) or sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) is used to neutralize the remaining bleach in the water, stopping the bleaching process. After rinsing, add detergent, fluorescence brightener, hydrogen peroxide, and other agents at a water temperature of 50°C for washing, pH neutralization, fluorescence brightening, and softening treatment.

Oxygen bleaching utilizes the oxidizing action of hydrogen peroxide under specific pH levels and temperatures to break down dye structures, thereby achieving the purpose of fading and whitening. Chlorine bleaching produces a rough fading effect and is commonly used for washing indigo denim. After bleaching, the residual chlorine in the water and on the clothing should be neutralized with sodium metabisulfite to stop the bleaching process.
