Factors such as the origin, batch, color, whiteness, properties, maturity, and micronaire value of cotton yarn, which are affected by differences in raw material quality, can lead to cross grain in textiles.

Improper transition batch handling of raw materials, especially when the quality of the incoming batch significantly differs from the previous one, results in a longer transition period. The smaller the incremental addition of raw materials for the incoming batch, the lower the likelihood of fabric streaks; conversely, the higher the likelihood.

Inconsistencies in the blending of raw materials from different origins, batches, and specifications, as well as uneven mixing of different components in blended yarn varieties, can all lead to cross grain in fabrics.

④ Material blending typically involves two methods: package blending and strand blending. Strand blending offers better fiber mixing ratios compared to package blending. However, controlling the weight uniformity of the carded sliver is crucial, and adding blending processes when necessary is a key factor in maintaining accurate blending ratios.

When packing cotton on the cotton table, ensure even distribution, trim high spots, and fill in low areas. Pay special attention to the beginning and end of the cotton rolls, as they tend to mix unevenly; it is necessary to rewind and use them. The rewind, return strip, and return flower should be uniform in length. The cotton picking hand should pick less frequently, maintaining the operation rate of the cotton picking machine above 92%.

⑥ When adopting the mixed raw material blending method, in the absence of a multi-bin blending machine, it may be necessary to implement secondary rolling as required. The single rolling of the top, middle, and bottom layers of the cotton on the cotton platform should be classified and evenly distributed to allow for more thorough and consistent blending of different fibers; or an additional blending process can be added, where the pre-mixed raw materials are packaged, then loaded onto the grab packaging machine, and proceed to the cleaning process.

When implementing the blending method of staple fiber, the feeding positions of different fiber slivers must be consistent, maintaining the same structural position of various fibers within the yarn.

When producing blends with three or more fiber types, a combination of package blending and strand blending can be employed. Select a portion of the fibers to be package blended into strands, and then mix these with another portion of fiber strands to ensure a uniform and consistent blend of the multi-component fibers.

To produce the same variety with identical machine models, maintain process consistency to avoid quality discrepancies in cotton yarn due to differences in machine types or inconsistent processes. When different machine models produce the same variety of cotton yarn and weave them together on the same circular loom, discrepancies in yarn weight, twist, slub, and fluff can lead to horizontal streaks on the fabric surface, which are more pronounced in lightweight fabrics.

When the weight deviation of cotton yarn exceeds 3.5% or more, and the blending ratio difference is greater than 2.5%, and two or more similar yarns are spliced together, the bleached cloth will show distinct horizontal streaks. Additionally, when the twist difference is 4% or more, horizontal streaks will also appear on the bleached or dyed cloth surface.

During the use of various equipment, clear distinction must be made. All finished and semi-finished products should be stored in separate categories; mixing, blending, and using them together is strictly prohibited. This ensures the elimination of quality accidents caused by misallocation or incorrect variety of fabrics.
