Properties of Polylactic Acid Fiber

Biodegradability: PLA fibers have excellent biodegradability, which allows them to fully decompose into CO2 and H2O in nature after disposal. These substances, through photosynthesis, can then become raw materials for lactic acid—starch. If PLA fibers are buried with other organic waste, they will decompose within a few months and can be completely broken down into CO2 and H2O.

Physical and mechanical properties: PLA boasts high melting points, high crystallinity, and good transparency among all biodegradable polymers, making it ideal for fibers, films, and molding products. The physical properties of PLA fibers are comparable to those of PET fibers (nylon) and PA fibers (nylon), with superior dyeing performance to PET fibers.

Safety: PLA fibers are biocompatible and comfortable to wear, making them safe for implantation within the body with no toxic side effects. Climate Resistance: After being exposed to outdoor sunlight for 500 hours, the strength of PLA fibers can retain approximately 55%.
