Sun Protection Principle of Sun Protective Clothing

Sun protective clothing is made from polyester fiber, with the sun protection factor of different fibers in order of effectiveness: polyester fiber > cotton > artificial cotton > silk. Most sun protective clothing incorporates UV-blocking agents into the fabric, applying a sun-blocking coating to the inner layer, akin to an umbrella. A single piece of sun protective clothing can block up to 95% of UV light. However, the sun-blocking effectiveness diminishes and eventually disappears after the clothing is soaked or washed several times. Some sun protective clothing uses a blend of sun-blocking ceramic fibers and polyester to enhance the fabric's reflection and scattering of UV rays, preventing UV penetration through the fabric to damage the skin. This type of clothing is less affected by soaking or washing and can maintain its sun-blocking function for a long time. Wearing UV-blocking clothing during hot seasons allows sweat to quickly move from the skin surface to the fabric, drying quickly and alleviating the discomfort of sweat dampness.
