Identifying Silk and Wool Yarns

Silk and wool yarns both emit a burning feather smell when ignited, so we cannot distinguish between them based on this alone. Instead, we differentiate by examining the number of individual fibers. Silk, after processing and dyeing, loses some sericin, causing the silk filaments to separate. For 1/22D/20D silk filaments, the count would increase to 14-16 strands. Additionally, we can quickly distinguish them by their luster. Moreover, the yarn count of 1/22D/20D, around 500 ends, can only be achieved through embedded spinning, so we can also differentiate based on the fineness of the raw material.
