Why Silk Finishing Cotton and Blended Fabrics?

Cotton fiber products have long been favored for their excellent moisture-absorbing properties, soft texture, and comfortable feel against the skin. However, unprocessed cotton fabrics tend to shrink, wrinkle, and have poor dyeing effects. Silk finishing can improve these shortcomings of cotton products. It enhances fabric quality: Silk-finished cotton and its blends, such as T-shirts, button-down shirts, jackets, and skirts, show a noticeable difference in appearance and feel compared to unprocessed versions. Silk-finished products exhibit a texture that's neither purely cotton nor silk, with a soft and crisp comfort; rich colors and alluring luster. It improves fabric dyeing performance: Most cotton fabrics use reactive dyeing technology for dyeing or printing. After silk finishing, the cotton fibers undergo physical and chemical changes, significantly increasing the color yield of reactive dyes, saving dyeing chemicals; for darker products, especially black, deep blue, dark green, and coffee, silk finishing is necessary to produce high-quality items. It increases fabric moisture absorption and elasticity: After silk finishing, the fabric's moisture absorption and elasticity are notably improved, making it suitable for sportswear fabrics like vests and sport shirts.
