What situations can there be differences between the finished product theoretical weight and the actual weight? Generally, a difference within ±5 grams between the simple calculation formula for the grey fabric weight and the weight of the finished fabric sample is within the normal range. For larger differences, a thorough analysis is required. Based on our many years of experience, we summarize some patterns: Normally, differences within ±5 grams are relatively normal. If the difference is significant, analysis is needed, following these principles: the difference in combed tight yarn is slightly smaller.

(1) Blended yarns of cotton and polyester or cotton and acrylic, with their conversion constants exceeding cotton's 583.1, have a higher count for the same denier, resulting in a calculated weight that is less than the actual weight; (2) Twisted yarns, made by intertwining two or more single yarns, are thicker in reality due to twist contraction, leading to a calculated weight that is less than the actual weight, with a greater discrepancy when both the warp and weft are twisted yarns; (3) Air-jet spun yarn, a type of short fiber yarn, experiences significant loss during pretreatment boiling in dyeing, thus requiring a higher calculated weight than the actual weight; (4) The weight per unit length after water washing is about 5-6.5% heavier; (5) The calculated weight is slightly higher than the actual weight when dyeing dark colors due to the weight of the dye; (6) The calculated weight of bleached and light-colored fabrics is slightly higher than the actual weight; (7) The weight per unit length after coating is about 3-7% heavier; (8) The weight per unit length after abrasion is about 3.5-6% lighter.
