Viscose, the full name for rayon, is a cellulose fiber produced by extracting and reconstituting fiber molecules from natural wood cellulose, using wood as the raw material.
Alkali cellulose is produced by alkalizing plant fibers, which is then treated with carbon disulfide to form cellulose xanthate. This is dissolved in a dilute alkali solution to create a thick, sticky solution known as粘胶. After wet spinning and a series of processing steps, the粘胶is transformed into粘胶 fiber. The uneven shaping process of common viscose fibers results in a waist-like or irregular cross-section, featuring holes internally and irregular grooves longitudinally. Viscose fibers have excellent moisture absorbency and dyeability, but their modulus and strength are relatively low, especially the wet strength.
