Steaming yarn is a process used in twisting production where heat steam is applied to set the twist of the yarn. During the process of converting raw materials into yarn, internal stress imbalances occur due to repeated forces and friction, leading to deformation. This results in fatigue and static electricity; additionally, the yarn, after twisting, exhibits a significant untwisting torque, which can affect the progress of subsequent production stages.

A process for stabilizing yarn twist under hot and humid conditions. The yarn twist can be set to prevent tangling and puckering during relaxation, thereby avoiding defects such as weft shrinkage in fabrics.

The fibers in twisted yarns develop internal stress against twisting due to stretching, causing instability in yarn twist. Increasing temperature or moisture content can weaken the intermolecular forces between the fiber macromolecules, relaxing the fibers and eliminating the internal stress opposing twisting, thereby achieving stability in yarn twist.
