Corrosion resistance
Stainless steel plates possess corrosion resistance similar to that of the unstable nickel-chromium alloy 304. Extended heating within the temperature range of chromium carbide may affect alloys 321 and 347 in harsh corrosive environments. Primarily used in high-temperature applications, these require materials with strong sensitization resistance to prevent intergranular corrosion at lower temperatures.
High-temperature oxidation resistance
Stainless steel sheets possess high-temperature oxidation resistance; however, the oxidation rate is influenced by inherent factors such as the exposed environment and the product's form.
Physical Properties
The overall thermal conductivity of metals depends not only on the thermal conductivity of the metal itself but also on other factors. In most cases, these include the film heat transfer coefficient, rust scale, and the surface condition of the metal. Stainless steel maintains a clean surface, thus it has better thermal conductivity than other metals with higher thermal conductivity. The technical standards of stainless steel sheets include their corrosion resistance, bending processing properties, toughness at welding sites, and the excellent stamping processing properties of high-strength stainless steel sheets and their manufacturing methods. Specifically, stainless steel sheets containing less than 0.02% C, less than 0.02% N, more than 11% but less than 17% Cr, appropriate amounts of Si, Mn, P, S, Al, and Ni, and meeting the requirements of 12≤Cr Mo 1.5Si≤17, 1≤Ni 30(CN) 0.5(Mn Cu)≤4, Cr 0.5(Ni Cu) 3.3Mo≥16.0, 0.006≤CN≤0.030 are heated to 850~1250°C and then heat-treated with a cooling rate of more than 1°C/s. This results in high-strength stainless steel sheets with more than 12% martensite volume fraction, over 730MPa in strength, excellent corrosion resistance, bending processing properties, and toughness in the heat-affected zone. By utilizing elements like Mo and B, the stamping processing properties at welding sites can be significantly improved. Oxygen-acetylene flame cutting is not suitable for stainless steel sheets because stainless steel is not easily oxidized.
