Calcium stearate and zinc stearate are both white powders in appearance and are categorized as PVC stabilizers. However, they have notable differences in their applications. Today, the Shandong calcium stearate manufacturer shares the distinctions between zinc stearate and calcium stearate in terms of their applications.

Firstly, while both calcium stearate and zinc stearate can be used as lubricants and stabilizers, calcium stearate is predominantly used in various plastic processing applications, whereas zinc stearate is mainly utilized in styrene resins, phenolic resins, and amino resins.

2. Although both can be used as PVC heat stabilizers, calcium stearate is primarily used in polyvinyl chloride, whereas zinc stearate is more commonly applied to PVC to inhibit early coloring and provide lubrication, without causing sulfur contamination. However, its effect is limited and it needs to be used in conjunction with stabilizers like calcium soap, barium soap, etc.

Calcium stearate and zinc stearate can both act as softeners in rubber processing. However, calcium stearate can also serve as a plasticizer, maintaining the vulcanization effect of rubber without compromising its softening properties, whereas zinc stearate can function as both a vulcanization activator and a softener.

Calcium stearate serves a wide range of functions, not only enhancing gelation speed in rigid products, but also acting as a halogen absorber in polyethylene and polypropylene to eliminate the impact of residual catalysts on color and stability. It also serves as a lubricant for polyolefin fibers and molding compounds, a waterproofing agent for textiles, a flattening agent for paints, a thickener for lubricating greases, and a plasticizer in the production of vinyl records, among other applications.
