Due to the high carbon content in gray cast iron, which is close to eutectic composition, its melting point is relatively low, has good fluidity, low shrinkage rate, making it suitable for casting complex structures or thin-walled castings. Additionally, the machinability of gray cast iron is superior to steel, as the graphite facilitates the formation of chips during cutting.
