Machine tool castings, also known as large castings, bed bases, pedestals, and worktables, feature: ⑴ Good wear resistance and vibration damping. ⑵ Excellent process performance. Due to the high carbon content in gray cast iron, which is close to eutectic composition, the melting point is relatively low, with good fluidity, low shrinkage rate, making it suitable for casting complex structures or thin-walled castings. Additionally, because graphite facilitates chip formation during cutting, the machinability of gray cast iron is superior to that of steel.
