What are the steps for thermal insulation construction?

One, the composition of the external wall insulation system

1. External Wall Insulation: This is a thermal insulation layer directly constructed vertically on the surface of the exterior wall. Generally, the base is built with bricks or concrete, and it is suitable for both the renovation of existing exterior walls and the construction of new ones.

Insulation Layers: Common insulation materials include expanded polystyrene board, extruded polystyrene board, rock wool board, glass wool felt, and ultra-light thermal insulation slurry, among others. Among them, flame-retardant polystyrene board is widely used.

Insulation Board Installation: The insulation boards are bonded to the exterior wall substrate, with the primary method of fixation being anchored.

4. Surface Layer: The surface layer refers to the so-called thin plaster layer, which is a polymer adhesive mortar applied onto the thermal insulation base. In other words, it is the primer directly coated on the thermal insulation layer, with a thickness of approximately 2-3mm, containing reinforcing materials.

Step 2: Exterior Wall Insulation Construction Procedure

1. Pre-Construction Preparation: Before starting work, inspect the exterior walls of the project. If using tools, deviations should not be less than 4 millimeters; any excess should be leveled or removed. In case of grooves, patch them using some cement mortar.

2. Tension Line: A tension line can be considered a decorative architectural line, constructed according to the design of the building facade and the technical specifications for the exterior wall temperature. Its primary function is to provide vertical control lines.

3. Hanging Benchmark Line: The hanging benchmark line is a vertical control line at the necessary positions of the exterior wall's positive and negative angles.

4. Preparation of Special Adhesives: This step is crucial for achieving a good insulating layer. During the preparation process, add water while stirring and then mix for about 5 minutes using a handheld electric mixer. If the mixture is not uniform, continue stirring until it reaches a moderate consistency.

5. Apply mesh fabric: Mesh fabric should be applied to the exposed parts of the thermal extruded board, around door and window openings, and at the contact areas of the main wall, as this lays the foundation for the insulation layer.
