Based on various insulation construction methods and the use of different insulation materials, insulation structures can be categorized into the following types: mortar structure, filling structure, wrapping structure, winding structure, prefabricated structure, and cast-in-place structure, etc.
The clay structure is a type of thermal insulation method involving a coating application, which is a relatively primitive form of insulation. With the continuous emergence of new thermal insulation materials, such as ropes, felt, and various prefabricated products, the usage range of this structure has been decreasing in recent years. Common types of clay-based thermal insulation materials include:
Diatomite Asbestos Powder
Also known as feather ash, it is composed of 85% diatomaceous earth powder and 15% asbestos fiber. Its main features include low density, low usage, and high thermal insulation efficiency, making it suitable for thermal insulation projects below 900 degrees Celsius. However, it is relatively expensive.
Calcium Carbonate Asbestos Powder
The composition of the chrysotile powder is lightweight calcium carbonate and chrysotile.
Key features include its use in thermal insulation projects below 600 degrees Celsius, with a relatively low price. However, it has the drawbacks of being heavy and prone to damage.
3. Heavy-grade asbestos powder and calcium carbonate asbestos powder share similar characteristics.
Construction Method
During construction, the surrounding air temperature must not drop below 0 degrees Celsius. To accelerate drying, high-temperature mediums such as hot water or steam can be introduced into the pipes, typically at temperatures of 80-150 degrees Celsius. When the insulation layer of the thermal preservation project is less than 100 millimeters thick, a single layer of galvanized wire mesh can be used. For thicknesses over 100 millimeters, two layers of galvanized wire mesh should be applied to prevent detachment due to external forces or vibrations.
