Curtain doors are now widely used in shopping malls, supermarkets, warehouses, and even at home. But weren't curtain doors always used on doors? How did curtain doors come about? Why are they called "cotton door curtains"? Alright, after a detour, let me explain the origin of curtain doors to you.
In the past, cotton curtains were not used for insulation. Initially, they were commonly used as backdrop curtains on the opera stage, also known as "stage curtain" or "hall curtain." Generally, they were hung on the entrance and exit doors facing the audience. The stage manager would pull the curtain open for actors to move from the backstage to the stage, while the curtain was draped between the entrance and exit doors.
Back then, the curtain primarily served two functions. One was to separate the front and back stages, hiding the backstage activities of the opera to prevent the audience from being distracted and to ensure a more focused viewing experience. The other role was purely aesthetic, as people often decorated the curtains with patterns. Thus, the curtain played a significant role during that time.
The opera troupe performs even in winter, and the door curtain has been hanging at the entrance for a long time. Over time, people gradually discovered that the door curtain inside was much better at retaining warmth than the outside. So, after a while, people began to use the curtain as a warming item. To further enhance the warmth, cotton and other materials were added inside the curtain over the next few days, thus giving birth to the cotton door curtain.
This is the origin and process of how cotton door curtains came into being; isn't it a bit surprising? We hope this gives you a deeper understanding of cotton door curtains. If you have a need for them, feel free to contact me.
