20MnCr5It is an alloy structural steel with high strength and toughness, and good hardenability. The properties obtained after heat treatment are superior to those of 20Cr. It has minimal distortion upon quenching, excellent low-temperature toughness, and good machinability; however, its welding performance is low. It is generally used after carburizing and quenching or tempering. It is suitable for manufacturing quenched and tempered parts with large cross-sections and carburized parts with small cross-sections. It can also be used to make medium-load, low-impact medium and small parts, replacing 20CrNi, such as gears, shafts, mainshafts, friction wheels for gearboxes, worms, and sleeves for speed regulators.

Properties and Application Range: 20MnCr5

German steel grade, equivalent to our20CrMn steel is a carburizing steel type, also suitable for quenching and tempering. It has good hardenability, minimal distortion during heat treatment, excellent toughness at low temperatures, and good machinability, although its weldability is poor. It can be used for carburized parts and quenched and tempered parts with larger cross-sections and higher loads, such as gears, shafts, worm gears, sleeves, and friction wheels.

Axles and connecting rods for high-speed and high-bend load conditions, gear mercury for non-forceful impact loads, water mercury rotors, clutches, bolts for high-pressure vessel cover plates, etc.
