Common sponges are made from wood pulp fibers or foam plastic polymers. Additionally, there are natural sponges made from animal sponges, most of which are used for cleaning or painting. Moreover, there are packaging sponges made from other materials, including low-density polyether, polyvinyl alcohol, and polyester.
Common components of packaging foam include polyester and polyether, which can be cut into slices or rolled up, and can be processed by lamination, heat pressing, and bursting for opening according to customer requirements. However, due to its characteristics such as thermal insulation, sound absorption, vibration reduction, flame retardancy, anti-static, and good breathability, it is involved in various industries including the automotive industry, battery industry, industrial applications, bra and underwear manufacturing, and furniture manufacturing.
When selecting packaging foam, we primarily use its texture and elasticity as the primary criteria for judgment. It should have a soft touch and some degree of extensibility. Moreover, there is a practical identification method: fold the foam and rub it against itself. If foam shavings fall off after several rubs, it should be disqualified. However, the small remnants of foam should not be directly discarded into nature, and nature cannot naturally absorb them.
Method for Foam Packaging Molding
There are two methods for cross-linking polyethylene: chemical cross-linking agent and radiation cross-linking. The physical and chemical properties of the two methods are essentially the same. Chemical cross-linking involves adding organic peroxides to the components, heating them to a temperature above the resin melting point, causing decomposition and cross-linking of the resin.
