The JMIJ/JMJ type diaphragm coupling for shaft coupling accessories features stainless steel diaphragms designed to prevent micromotion wear during high-speed operation, which could lead to tiny cracks in the diaphragm bolt holes and eventual damage. To counter this, a solid lubricant like molybdenum disulfide can be applied between the diaphragms or a wear-reducing coating can be applied to the surface. Typically, the diaphragms are connected to the two halves of the coupling using bolts arranged in an interlocking pattern, with each group of diaphragms consisting of several stacked sheets. These are generally made of stainless steel 304 and, after laser cutting, are assembled with iron rings and riveted together. The bolt holes of the diaphragm couplings are bored in a large-small, opposite arrangement.
