Static floor applications are now widespread, with a myriad of floor qualities on the market. So, what qualifies as a standard static floor, and what types are available?
(One) Renovation Layer
The decorative layer is made by impregnating melamine resin into decorative paper. The quality of the decorative performance of the reinforced static-free flooring primarily depends on the decorative layer. The rapid development and global popularity of the reinforced static-free flooring over the past 15 years are inseparable from the artistic creativity and design of the decorative layer, which incorporates natural patterns and colors suitable for flooring, providing consumers with diverse home decoration ideas and creating a truly personalized living environment. The decorative paper, due to the use of high-stability production equipment, strict humidity control systems, and careful selection of raw materials, features natural and soft colors, beautiful and smooth patterns, and a strong sense of gradation, giving an overall warm and comfortable feel. However, some decorative paper manufacturers, with lower equipment precision, greater changes in environmental temperature and humidity, and rougher raw materials, often result in finished products that:

(Two) Abrasion-resistant layer
The wear-resistant layer is made by impregnating the surface paper with a wear-resistant material, aluminum oxide, into melamine resin, which is a crucial component for enhancing the lifespan of anti-static flooring. This layer imparts significant physical and chemical properties such as wear resistance, scratch resistance, resistance to cigarette burns, stain resistance, corrosion resistance, and moisture protection to the anti-static flooring. It is these characteristics that differentiate the reinforced anti-static flooring from painted floors, not only meeting modern home decoration needs but also effectively saving cleaning time and providing convenience for consumers with their fast-paced lifestyles.

The primary objective of wear-resistant layer quality assessment
(1) Abrasion-resistant surface paper basis weight
The grammage of the abrasion-resistant surface paper is the mass per square meter of paper. The higher the grammage, the more alumina (Al2O3) is contained within the paper, making the reinforced static-resistant flooring more abrasion-resistant, although transparency may be slightly reduced. The first priority in manufacturing reinforced static-resistant flooring is to select high-quality abrasion-resistant surface paper, otherwise, it will significantly impact the lifespan of the flooring.
(2) Transparency
Toughness is another critical target for assessing the quality of the wear-resistant layer. While enhancing the surface physical and chemical properties of static-resistant floors, the wear-resistant layer must also maintain clarity and transparency to fully showcase the decorative layer's aesthetics. However, the aluminum oxide in the wear-resistant top layer can affect its transparency. Therefore, production companies must consider both toughness and transparency comprehensively to ensure that the static-resistant floors have a natural decorative effect.

2. The Impact of Defective Wear-Resistant Surface Paper on the Quality of Reinforced Antistatic Flooring
Due to constraints in production skills, funding, equipment, and management experience, there are still products on the market with low-quality wear-resistant surface paper. Reinforced antistatic flooring produced with this type of surface paper falls significantly short of high-quality products in terms of both wear resistance stability and product clarity. This is primarily evident in the following aspects:
(1) Significant difference in wear resistance
Dispersal of aluminum oxide particles is uneven in the wear-resistant layer, resulting in the produced reinforced antistatic flooring having varying levels of wear resistance at different locations. Some areas wear down quickly, failing to meet national standards. This is manifested in some reinforced antistatic flooring showing signs of wear after being laid for six months to a year. These products use low-grade wear-resistant top paper, even some that do not contain aluminum oxide, which significantly reduces the lifespan of the reinforced antistatic flooring.

(2) Poor transparency of the wear-resistant layer
The poor transparency of the wear-resistant layer causes the surface of dark wood grain flooring to appear white and foggy, making it impossible to clearly display the decorative layer's pattern, significantly affecting the decorative effect.

How to Distinguish the Quality of Abrasion-Resistant Coating
Sand the product's surface with 180-grit sandpaper for 20-30 strokes. If the decorative paper shows wear, it indicates that the wear-resistant layer is easily damaged and not durable. Typically, a qualified wear-resistant layer will not be damaged after 50 strokes of sanding, let alone the decorative paper. Additionally, the surface should be clear with no white spots.
