Magnesium olivine is used in foundry coatings, mold sand for manganese steel casting, refractory materials, building materials, and as raw material for magnesium-based fertilizers. It serves as a metallurgical solvent, slag regulator, and ironmaking sinter additive. Its products are used in ladles, continuous casting tundishes, and blast furnace tuyeres, extending the life of the furnace lining and reducing refractory material consumption. It can also be used as slag damming material, and is currently the raw material for foundry molding sand used in steelmaking fluxing sand and refractory material casting.
