The skylight panels are primarily made from materials such as PP, PC, PET, APET, PVC, or FRP. They feature the following characteristics:
(1) Transparency: The PC board has a light transmittance of up to 89%, making it comparable to glass. The UV coated board will not turn yellow, fog up, or lose light quality when exposed to sunlight. After ten years, the light transmittance loss is only 6%, while the loss rate of PVC is as high as 15%-20%, and glass fiber is 12%-20%.
(2) Impact Resistance: Its impact strength is 250-300 times that of ordinary glass, 30 times that of acrylic plates of the same thickness, and 2-20 times that of tempered glass. It can withstand a fall of two meters with a 3kg hammer without cracking, earning it the nickname "Unbreakable Glass" and "Sound Steel."
(3) UV Protection: The PC board features an anti-UV (UV) coating on one side and an anti-condensation treatment on the other, combining UV protection, heat insulation, and moisture resistance. It effectively blocks UV rays, making it ideal for protecting valuable art and exhibits from UV damage.
(4) Lightweight: Half the weight of glass, saving costs for transportation, handling, installation, and support frames.
(5) Flame Retardant: According to the National Standard GB50222-95, PC boards are classified as Class 1 flame-retardant, i.e., B1 grade. The self-ignition temperature of PC boards is 580 degrees Celsius, and they will self-extinguish after being removed from the fire source. They do not produce toxic gases during combustion and do not promote the spread of fire.
(6) Flexibility: Can be cold bent on-site according to design drawings to form arches, semi-circular roofs, and windows. The minimum bending radius is 175 times the thickness of the panels, and can also be heat-bent.
(7) Sound Insulation: The PC board offers superior sound insulation, outperforming glass and acrylic sheets of the same thickness. Under the same thickness, the sound insulation of PC boards is improved by 3-4 dB compared to glass. It is internationally recognized as the material for highway noise barriers.
(8) Energy Efficiency: The PC board offers superior thermal insulation, keeping cool in summer and warm in winter. It has a lower thermal conductivity (K-value) than ordinary glass and other plastics, resulting in a 7%-25% higher insulation effect compared to equivalent glass. The maximum insulation of PC board can reach up to 49%, significantly reducing heat loss. It is an environmentally friendly material suitable for buildings with heating equipment.
(9) Temperature Adaptability: The PC board does not become brittle at -100°C and does not soften at 135°C, and its mechanical and physical properties remain unchanged under harsh environmental conditions.
(10) Weather Resistance: PC boards maintain stability of all physical properties within the temperature range of -40℃ to 120℃. After 4000 hours of artificial climate aging test, the yellowness reaches 2, and the light transmittance reduction is only 0.6%.
(11) Anti-condensation: The material's inner surface will not form condensation when the outdoor temperature is 0°C, the indoor temperature is 23°C, and the indoor relative humidity is below 80%.
