As the development of the Saudi Product Safety Program (SALEEM) progresses, SASO has implemented an electronic platform called SABER for compliance assessments. SASO encourages the use of this platform to apply for and obtain product and batch certificates for goods covered by SASO technical regulations, as well as for self-declarations and batch certificates for any goods not included in SASO technical regulations.

What is the SABER Certification?

The SABER certification refers to the compliance assessment program for non-local Saudi enterprises (i.e., companies exporting to Saudi Arabia). Therefore, for Chinese exporting companies, the focus should be on the SABER certification program.
2. SALEEM and SABER are the newly launched upgraded versions based on the existing SASO certification, also serving as the new certification recognition program set to replace SASO certification. The SALEEM certification is a compliance assessment program specifically designed for local Saudi businesses.

Major Changes in SABER Certification

SABER is a new evaluation program concerning product and batch conformity certification for shipments heading to Saudi Arabia.
2. The SALEEM project has launched a new online application system called "SABER."
3. SABER certification is a new online application system launched by SASO. In essence, SABER is an online tool used for product registration, release, and obtaining compliance CoC certificates.
4. According to SABER, products will be categorized by risk level: high-moderate-low. Different compliance testing procedures will be adopted based on the risk category, to be executed by various recognized institutions.

III. What is the relationship between SALEEM, SABER, and SASO?

Saleem and Saber are the newly launched upgraded versions based on the existing SASO certification, and they also represent the new certification recognition program that will replace SASO certification.
2. The SALEEM Compliance Certification Program is an integrated system that encompasses regulatory standards, technical requirements, and control measures, aiming to ensure the safety of both domestic and imported products.
3. SABER is an online network system tool launched by the Saudi Standards Organization for product registration, issuance, and obtaining compliance CoC certificates. According to SABER, different compliance inspection procedures are adopted based on risk categories, which will be executed by recognized institutions.
