The Executive Director of the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) has issued an official confirmation document, allowing the implementation and enforcement of the Conformity Assessment Program (PVOC). All regulated products under the PVOC program must undergo inspection, ensuring compliance with Tanzania National Standards and other recognized standards, upon which a Compliance Certificate of Conformity (COC) will be issued.
Tanzania will implement the Product Conformity Certificate (COC) effective February 1, 2012, which is a pre-shipment inspection. All products listed in Tanzania's controlled catalog must apply for a COC prior to shipment; failure to do so will result in inability to clear customs at the destination port. Unlike the previous Tanzania pre-shipment inspection, the Tanzania COC must be applied for before the goods leave the port, and a COC cannot be supplemented once the goods have departed. Additionally, the Tanzania COC requires submission of product test reports and other documents for file review before scheduling the pre-shipment inspection and obtaining the COC certificate. The Conformity Certificate (COC) is a necessary document to ensure smooth customs clearance, proving that the products comply with relevant Tanzanian technical regulations and national, regional, and standards. Failure to provide a conformity certificate issued by an inspection agency may lead to customs delays, fines, or even the return of goods to the exporting country.

Provide packing list, IVOICE, and inspection reports, etc.
Submit application, upon approval, arrange for inspection.
Upon passing the inspection, provide the final INVOICE and draft the importer's CR NO.

Review Time: 2-3 Business Days
Inspection Time: The on-site inspection date will be determined based on the specific schedules of the inspection department and the client.
Certificate Issuance Time: Drafts will be prepared and sent for client confirmation within 3 working days after the inspection passes.
