Scenic Area Introduction
The Xianfo Cave, from the perspective of its stratigraphic formation, belongs to the Jurassic System of the Mesozoic Era, specifically the Mengjia Formation limestone, with a history of over 140 million years. The cave stretches 2.8 kilometers in length and features a vertical difference of over 200 meters. Its uniqueness lies in its almost complete collection of karst landform geological landscapes. These caverns range from grand and majestic in size to delicate and exquisite, resembling deities or immortals, or like bamboo forests. The scenery is vivid and lifelike. The cave's lighting, utilizing sound, light, and electrical technology, adds to its resplendent and colorful appearance, with misty clouds swirling, appearing and disappearing. The grayish-white, leaf-like stalactites are neatly arranged. The Dai people follow Theravada Buddhism, and they inscribe Buddhist scriptures on the leaves of the betel nut tree, hence the name "Baiye Sutras." The content of the "Baiye Sutras" includes not only Theravada Buddhist classics but also many legends, stories, poems, and historical records. The stalactites arranged here resemble the library of thousands of scrolls of the Baiye collection of the Dai ancestors, thus earning the name "Baiye Treasure House."
