Inorganic fiber spray is a new type of environmentally friendly building coating, primarily composed of inorganic fibers and water-based adhesives. After mixing, it is sprayed through an air compressor and blended with atomized water, then applied to the base material to form a coating. This coating meets the requirements for sound absorption, thermal insulation, and fire protection. The material is lightweight, odorless, non-toxic, has excellent acoustic absorption and weather resistance, provides good thermal insulation, and is reliable in fire resistance, achieving over 5 hours of fire resistance. It is suitable for fire protection in buildings and tunnels, especially for high-rise steel structures with high fire resistance requirements. It is also applicable for thermal insulation and sound absorption in buildings and energy-saving thermal insulation in mechanical equipment.

Rigid Spray Coating

As the development and popularity of fiber spray technology in China, its applications have become increasingly widespread. Designers and property owners are also demanding higher standards for spray technology and finished products. The weaker impact and adhesion strength of ordinary spray products, as well as their sensitivity to water and humid environments, call for a new generation of spray products that can adapt to various environments. In 2008, the hard inorganic fiber spray technology originated in Japan was introduced to China by New Times Industry.

Rigid inorganic fiber spray system, boasting comprehensive properties such as energy-saving and environmental protection, sound absorption, A-grade fire resistance, and high bonding strength, it is an A-grade fire-resistant thermal insulation material. It perfectly embodies the consistent design philosophy of "high performance, low energy consumption, and green environmental protection." After rigorous testing by national authoritative institutions, the impact resistance and bonding strength of the rigid inorganic fiber spray are dozens of times higher than those of the commonly used ordinary fiber spray products. It also features distinct advantages such as water resistance, resistance to dampness, and freeze-thaw resistance. Its durability and anti-erosion performance are also significantly improved.

Key Operating Points

1. Raw Material Appearance Quality Inspection

Prior to construction, sampling inspections should be conducted on the spray fiber cotton and adhesive. The fiber cotton should be dry and free of lumps, clean and white without any impurities. The adhesive should be free of分层, foaming, deterioration, and discoloration.

2. Surface Preparation for Coating

(1) Surface Preparation for Painting: Clean the dust and dirt from the painting surface using compressed air or clean water; inspect the hanger and embedded parts for stability, securing any loose components. If the original surface is damaged or has severe cracks, repairs should be made first.

(2) Protect and shield doors, windows, various equipment, pipelines, and non-painted areas. Block the openings of spray-free areas and ventilation pipeline holes.

(3) Clear any obstructions from the work area to ensure smooth movement and safety for the spray operator, while maintaining proper spray distance and angle.

3. Material Composition and Tuning

(1) Disperse and compress the fiber cotton, continuously fill the spray cotton into the spray machine, and ensure an adequate supply of fiber materials in the material box.

(2) A dedicated person is responsible for diluting the adhesive concentrate according to the spray adhesive instructions using clean water in a professional container (a 200-liter plastic container equipped with a high-speed stirrer). The mixing ratio is strictly controlled, and water should not be arbitrarily added for dilution. The electric stirrer should be continuously operated to ensure even mixing for at least 5 minutes. Each drum is mixed individually, as needed, to prevent the adhesive from freezing and becoming ineffective.

4. Pre-spray base coat on the sub-surface: After cleaning the sub-surface, apply the pre-mixed bonding agent with a pre-spray treatment. Ensure the adhesive is applied appropriately and evenly without dripping.

5. Fiber Spraying

(1) Calibration of spraying equipment should be conducted strictly according to the equipment's operating instructions, adjusting the air pressure of the main sprayer, the pressure of the胶 pump, and the feeding device. By conducting trial spraying with samples, measuring the adhesive fluid flow rate and cotton output, gradually adjust the air pressure range and feeding agitation speed until the fiber spraying state is stable, meeting the requirements of the spraying process.

(2) Verify and align with the drawings to determine the locations for fiber spray coating, and mark and provide necessary protection for non-coating areas.

(3) Place the thickness gauges (blocks) in sections, then proceed with the spraying. The spraying angle should meet the technical requirements to achieve greater pressure and rebound. For coatings with a thickness less than 100mm, a single coating application can be completed.

(4) Surface整形 of coating: After the surface of the product to be coated dries for about half an hour, use different shaping tools such as wool rollers, aluminum rollers, pressure plates, or aluminum alloy rulers, based on the specific requirements of thermal insulation or sound absorption projects.

(5) Apply an adhesive primer coating to the surface of the整形 products to enhance surface strength. If surface coloring is required as per design, color paste can be sprayed onto the finish coating after it is completed.

6. The construction site after spraying should be cleaned up promptly, removing rebound material from the site, and dismantling protective coatings, etc.

Safety and Precautions Guide

For the sprayed thermal and sound-absorbing layer, a ventilated and dry environment should be provided. Typically, drying and curing time ranges from 24 to 72 hours at an average temperature of 25°C and a relative humidity of ≤60%, after which decorative and other processes can be carried out.

Coating Finish Protection

Prior to painting, install various pipeline, ductwork, and other hanging equipment to avoid drilling or chiseling into the base after the painting is completed.

Avoid mechanical impact and rain wash during the drying and curing period of the coated finished products.

In the event of localized damage to the coating due to collision, a local repair should be conducted. For areas frequently susceptible to mechanical impacts, glass fiber cloth or other protective materials can be applied to shield the surface of the fiber layer.

Maintain a clean environment in the painting area to prevent dust from rising and contaminating the finished paint coating surface. During the painting process, operators should wear dust masks in accordance with national labor protection regulations, and those working at heights should wear safety belts and other protective equipment.
